Questions from the published rules. Your answers stay on this page and vanish when you leave.

  1. Is this new 2027 artistic work with live public engagement for Queens audiences (in person in Queens, or a qualifying live virtual event)?
  2. Is this an eligible artistic/public-benefit project rather than industrial/commercial entertainment?
  3. Is the applicant NOT a full-time degree student during the restricted current/2027 period?
  4. Is the project budget prepared in NYFA’s required budget template?
  5. Is at least 10% of the project’s resources from other cash or in-kind support?
  6. Are LLC, prior-grant and DCLA exclusion rules clear for this applicant?
  7. Does the applicant have qualifying Queens residence or a Queens studio/workspace?

What you get

50–100% of a requested $3,000–$7,500 (no guaranteed $3,000 minimum)

Amount$3,000–$7,500Request $3,000–$7,500; an award can be 50–100% of the request. This is not a guaranteed $3,000 minimum payment.

Amounts stay in the currency the organiser uses. Caps, totals and alternatives are listed as published; don’t add them up.

What it costs

The official page didn’t state an entry fee when we read it on 17 Oct 2026. That isn’t the same as free: check the form before you count on it.

What to bring

  • New-work proposal, detailed budget and non-grant contribution; evidence of Queens residence or workspace; public-engagement plan.
  • Work samples may show completed or in-progress work; preliminary plans can be relevant to a new project. Screenwriting is within the literary-arts scope.
  • Use NYFA’s mandatory project-budget template, not a personal spreadsheet template. A virtual public component is allowed if live and primarily serving Queens audiences; a permanent upload alone is not sufficient.
